What will you be doing?
Guide Dogs Breeding Dog Holder - Brood role needs volunteers to provide a safe, secure, and welcoming home environment for a Guide Dogs Mum, from when the dog is around the age of 12 months until they are around 7 or 8 years old.
Ensuring they are fed, exercised, and cared for to maintain excellent health, with using positive reinforcement training techniques to teach, and/or maintain behaviours, making sure the dog is not left alone for more than 4 hours in a 24-hour period.
You will also need to support the Guide Dogs Mum support during them birth in your home and caring for mum and the litters of puppies for for 7 to 8 weeks.
What skills are required?
Ideally you will:
• Have a home with a safely fenced garden.
• Have dog handling experience but this is not essential.
• Have a clean driving licence is desirable and access to a car you are insured to drive.
• Live within an hour’s drive from the National Centre.

Additional important information
This is a full time, 7 to 8 year commitment, homebased volunteer role, with you looking after a female dog in your home, help her with giving birth and look after the litter of puppies during their first 7 to 8 weeks.
