Cooking Session Coordinator

We are looking for a volunteer to support with delivering cooking sessions for our residents to help boost their confidence and skills with cooking, and preparing them for independent living.

Flexible hours - preferably daytime, Monday to Friday.

Could this role be carried out virtually or through a hybrid volunteering model?

Yes - travel only

What will you be doing?

The role will require someone who can engage and communicate with a range of people and form a positive and sustained rapport.

Tasks include:
• Working one to one, or in small groups with residents to show them and teach them how to make simple meals.
• Be creative and inspiring with ingredients and help people to develop their skills and confidence in the kitchen.
• Organising sessions and planning in advance times and dates for delivery, engaging residents with help and support of staff on site.
• Promoting the sessions with help, and engaging residents in a comfortable and uplifting setting.
• Being aware of communication, professional boundaries and safeguarding.

What skills are required?

Experience of working with a similar customer group is preferable but not required.

We would like to speak to anyone who feels that they could offer something to the service and who is committed and motivated to making a difference.

You will forge relationships, develop communication and have opportunity to shape the delivery of the sessions. The residents love to cook and have someone to talk to. This would combine these things and provide a really healthy and positive outlet for them to be creative and look to their futures. The impact would be far reaching and continue to help and support these individuals for years to come as they move on to independence and live independently.
